In 1986, Christine Okeny lost her father and was forced to move to Jinja and live with her older brother. While living with her brother, she attended tailoring school for one year, and secretary school after that. She eventually got a job as a tailor and created her own tailoring business. However, running a business required an extra amount of funds, so Christine was unable to make a good amount of income. Once she was introduced to SUUBI, Christine quit her tailoring job and devoted the majority of her time and energy into making necklaces. Since then, Christine is confident in saying that she has a consistent job and is able to take care of her husband, five children, and four addition orphans, successfully.
