Florence Ochida and her husband moved to Jinja after a hard life in the IDP camps. They decided to move to Jinja in hopes for a better and safer life. When they first arrived to Jinja, life was still hard, but there were open opportunities for her husband to work and make enough money to support their family. Circumstances changed in 2001 when her husband passed away, leaving Florence to take care of five children by herself. She and her husband had three children of their own, and committed to taking care of two additional children. Before she was registered with SUUBI, Florence had very little money and very little ways of making money. Thankfully, a friend of Florence’s introduced her to SUUBI and her life began to change for the better. Even though life is still difficult, Florence is confident in her work with SUUBI. Her hope is to one day be able to afford a house of her own. She prays that SUUBI will continue building and is hopeful that her dreams of owning her home will quickly become reality.
