Beatrice Odong left her village in Karamajong because of the violence that was continuing to break out. She remembers nights when people involved with cattle raiding would come to the village screaming and threatening to kill anyone who opened their doors. One of her friends were killed and eventually her husband passed away. Beatrice is now a single mother of five children. She has two of her own and takes care of three additional kids. The house she is currently living in has been sold, so she is in the process of looking for a place to stay. She was introduced to SUUBI shortly after moving to Jinja. Beatrice says, “Since I am in SUUBI, I know I can raise enough money to support my family and I have hope.”
