2011 SUUBI® Uganda Awareness Tour
March Stop:Agriculture
Necklace: Sipi Falls
SIPI FALLS is our first wrap-around design and offers a wide range of versatility in the way it can be worn. Modeled after SIPI FALLS, a series of three waterfalls on the edge of Mount Elgon National Park near the Kenyan border, this necklace is a ‘never-ending’ cascade of water-colored beads. In-between two ends of blue and green SUUBI beads is a vast array of pewter colored seed beads. This necklace can be wrapped around the neck, waist, or head - get creative!
Single strand of cascading pewter-colored seed beads ending in 4 SUUBI beads in blues and turqouises. Approximately 64" from end to end.
The Scoop on the Flavour of The Month:
Each month a new (and unique) product is introduced in limited supply.
Each SUUBI® product is 100% unique - hand-crafted by the Suubi women in Uganda and made of recycled paper.
Uganda’s agriculture is the most important sector of the economy and employs over 80% of the work force. Many SUUBI women supplement their incomes or diets by growing cash crops like bananas, sugar cane, or cassava root. SIPI FALLS is particularly famous for Bugisu Arabica Coffee, which is produced by local farmers and shipped around the world. In fact, coffee makes up 95% of Ugandan exports and over 2.8 million people in Uganda rely on coffee farming for their living. Join us by wrapping some cascading hope around yourself this month!
