The Ihangane Project

For a better future.

As a humanitarian organization, it's always refreshing and encouraging to see other groups of people working hard to improve the world around us. Earlier this week, we came across The Ihangane Project. The Mission of The Ihangane Project is to provide funding and technical support for community-initiated projects that address HIV prevention, education, diagnosis, or treatment. This organization is based both in Rwanda and the USA.

Similar to LGH, The Ihangane Project believes in the action of empowerment. Where as LGH works to empower the women in Jinja, Uganda and their creative artistry, The Ihangane Project empowers local communities. In fact, their goal is to provide impoverished communities with the tools that will allow them to assess their needs, develop a plan to address these needs, request resources, and succeed in improving the conditions that fuel the HIV epidemic, provide for successful HIV education, diagnosis, and medical management, and ultimately improve the health of their entire community.
