The Final Week

Friends at sonshine

Sonshine-y days.

Sometimes a conversation can change your day. Have you ever had a day
that started out pretty average but was turned around by a word of
encouragement or by someone that really cared about you? Well, we have
experienced a few of those moments this summer.

If we're being completely honest with you, it can get pretty boring
standing at a booth, saying the same thing over and over. Don't get me
wrong, we know that it's necessary, but there are times that we would
like to talk for more than 30 seconds with people.

For instance, when Brady and Seana were working at Sonshine one
morning, a couple of girls came up and started talking with them.
These girls weren't just interested in the necklaces, they were
interested in the women that LGH employs. These girls had been to
Mozambique, and had experienced the incredible African spirit that we
were trying so hard to convey. Simply put, they weren't wanting a 30
second description. They wanted to talk. They wanted to listen. They
cared. That alone made Seana and Brady feel special, like they really
were impacting lives!

Amanda met a high schooler named Lyanne who was originally from
Africa. Lyanne and her friend Alyssa both excitedly signed up for the
Spread Campaign. Lyanne explained to Amanda that her family moved here
so they could all pursue a better life. Through Spread she is giving
people in her homeland a chance to pursue their dreams as she can.

Thank you for your support and encouragement of the four of us as
we've taken this journey. Your words of encouragement, thoughts, and
prayers have really meant a lot to us, and have made the summer great!

While things have been going great here, we also want to acknowledge
something that happened recently in Uganda. On Monday, July 12th, our
team and the nation were shocked to hear of the bombings in Kampala
that occurred the previous day by the terrorist group Al Shabaab,
which took the lives of at least 74 people and injuring dozens more.
We encourage you to pray for Uganda and remember that the LRA is not
the only threat to lives there.

Thanks so much guys! We've only got one blog left before we say goodbye!

Much love,
The Summer Crew
