Spreading the Love

Seana makes a friend

This week marks our last week as summer interns for LightGivesHeat,
and we are spending it in Wilmar, Minnesota at Sonshine Music
Festival. We are excited about making a ton of new friends there! We
have literally met thousands of people throughout the course of the
summer, and each one has such a unique and interesting story. When you
think about it, our job this summer has been to tell stories. It\'s
what we do every day, and each day we invite others to be a part of a
story that is being written simultaneously in Uganda and the United
States.

Part of the way that people can be a part of this story is to sign up
for our Spread Campaign. When someone does this, it means that they
are committing to sell ten of our necklaces to their friends. As they
do this, they are not simply selling necklaces, but becoming an
ambassador for the organization, for the Ugandans that we employ, and
most importantly, an ambassador for hope.

We\'ve had young and old, singles and families, those who have seen
Africa themselves, and those whose hearts have been moved in their own
homes. At Lifest, we were inspired by the reasons people wanted to
help. Seana teared up with a woman whose son and daughter-in-law are
moving to Africa to do medical work for at least two years. The
mixture of fear and pride for her little boy welled up as she shared
her support for his passion that we all carry in our hearts. Amanda
met a beautiful woman named Amy who came to the LightGivesHeat booth
with her children. Though years and states apart, Amanda could relate
to her as she eagerly asked questions about the conflict in Uganda and
desperately wanted to know more and find out what she could do to
help. She explained that she sponsors a child in Africa but still
doesn\'t feel a part of the cause. The Spread Campaign enables herself,
as well as her family to work together and be a part of something...a
part of something greater than themselves. We also met someone that
had seen our sweet van on the road and sought us out at the festival
after being inspired by the website!

We wrapped up this week in Minneapolis with Amanda and Seana\'s good
friend Aaron Streeter. We were totally blessed to find out he had told
his whole company about us and they were eager to donate to the Moving
On Film! We loved our time in the twin cities and are pumped up to
finish strong at Sonshine. It hardly seems real that we have only one
more festy left. Keep a lookout for more updates from our final
stretch!
