Sole Hope Non Profit Organization Empowers through Shoes

This month's issue of Docica, a magazine aimed at writing about "real women in all their beauty, Stunning style, artsy abodes, delish dishes, and lovely lives", shared a story on Asher Collie, founder of Sole Hope. To be honest, we were originally directed to the article because Asher, so fashionably, is wearing a Suubi Classic necklace on the front cover. However, as we read on into the article, we realized this is a story that needs to be shared!

Asher Collie received a vision for the non-profit only one year and a half ago in the midst of being a busy mom, a wife and photographer. It was while watching a youtube clip on jiggers infecting Ugandan children's feet that she was drawn to do something. Since then, Asher has gone on to co-design shoes to help prevent jiggers while empowering Ugandan and Zambian natives to construct these shoes. As stated on Sole Hope's website, their mission is to provide hope for widows, orphans and others in impoverished and forgotten communities around the world through the trade of shoe-making. Sole Hope teaches women skills in basic shoe making and helps them to create a long term sustainable business plan which will allow them to provide their family with a reliable source of income. Sole hope also strives to prevent disease, parasites and illness by putting closed-toes shoes on orphans and others in desperate need.

We love what Sole Hope is doing and we definitely recommend reading more on their website linked below.
