We are super excited to be able to give a report both in words and photos on last weeks demo with Solar Cookers International. In fact, we have so much to tell, we are going to break it down into a few days! Today, we'll start at the beginning. On Sunday, May 1, we welcomed John and Julius, SCI trainers from Kenya. They arrived with 25 CookIts, two large fireless baskets, and other training supplies. After they settled in the back room of the LGH House, we ate dinner, and reviewed the training schedule for the following week: the first three days with the Suubi ladies in Danida and the fourth day at the LGH House with the tailors. We planned to demonstrate sustainable cooking methods: CookIt reflector, fireless basket, and efficient charcoal stove in the morning and have “lectures” about the physics of heat and construction of cookers in the afternoon. We were excited to find out that large, parabolic cookers capable of reaching deep fry temperatures are made here in Jinja and we could borrow one to demonstrate with. Pictured above are the women and SCI staff practicing the method of cooking with the parabolic cooker.

Maybe you are reading about our Sustainable Cooking Project for the first time; no worries, we have your back, we've linked all our previous posts for your catchin-up convenience! We also took it one step further and added a link for more information on the Parabolic Cookers! Peace - LGH
