Movement for Uganda

March 16, 2010
There you go, Mr. President.

It's funny how desensitized we are. We work each day in the same rhythm.
Some days we go and go without stopping.
Some days we do stop, and maybe read the news.
Well today I stopped...

I was looking at the happenings in Uganda and was thrilled to see that there was a bill passed in the Senate yesterday that is called "LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act". This bill, if passed through the U.S. House of Representatives and Barack Obama, will help in an effort to arrest the leader of the Lords Resistance Army. The LRA kidnaps young Ugandan's out of their homes and villages and turns them into Child Soldiers, de-sensitizing them and using them to kill innocent people. The goal of the bill is to use the resources the U.S. has to stop the war that this Army has been creating and to no longer ignore the reality of the severe harm that has been brought to the Nation of Uganda. The urgency of this bill passing is becoming even more evident when news reports came that the LRA are now entering Darfur, Sudan. Hopefully this will help in the complete passing of this bill.

I'm so glad I stopped.
People are starting to realize there are things worth stopping and fighting for.
Things that carry more worth than we know.
There are people desiring to help transform Uganda and are finding they are, in turn, being transformed.
We are finding that there are more and more people desiring a lack of desensitization.
They wanna know truth.
So we are showing truth, and they are starting to get this whole Hope thing.
That being hopeful also happens to be difficult.
But without hope and some stellar initiative, things like this bill wouldn't pass.
Things in Uganda wouldn't change.

So today I choose hope....
