Farewell from the Interns

This is tour life

So, as far as summers go, this summer has been a crazy one. We covered over 4,000 miles in Vincent (Van GO!), the LightGivesHeat van. Our adventure took us over mountains, across plains, down rivers, and into some of the biggest cities in America. Needless to say, this was a summer that the four of us will remember for the rest of our lives. We just wanted to take the time to say a big thank you to all of you who met us at the music festivals, read the blog, or prayed for us over the past 6 weeks.

From Martin:
Hey guys! You been following our blog? Then I'm sure you have noticed that it has been an awesome adventure around America (or at least a large portion of it). We met a CRAP-TON of people, made some good quality friends, repeated Light Gives Heat's story to strangers a thousand times, traveled many, many, many miles to new places, encountered the countries different dialects, often went from city-life to roughin' it within hours, and gave up most of our summer freedom ALL in the name of HOPE. Was it easy? Not really. Was it worth it? Most definitely. Would I do it again? Without hesitation. If this trip was about comfort and complacency, it would have contradicted what LGH values. This was about being a part of something much, much bigger and far more worthwhile. And I encourage EVERY single person on the planet to get involved with something (and I highly suggest Light Gives Heat) bigger than themselves. Our own self is just too small to live for. Thank you so very much, to you all. Hope out.

From Seana:
Hey friends!
I just wanted to thank everyone who has supported our team throughout the summer. The friends we made along the way were such an amazing addition to an already incredible experience. Thanks for the laughs and great company! Thank you to everyone who came by the booth and allowed us to share the story of SUUBI and EPOH, we hope that we were able to open your world up a little more, make it a little brighter and provide some inspiration to be apart of the movement. I absolutely loved learning and sharing with you. Thanks to my family and friends who have loved and supported me from home. I miss you and can't wait to see you very soon!
I'm on my way back to Tulsa to spend time with friends and family and then I'm off to Brussels, Belgium for my masters degree this fall.
I encourage the readers of this to find an avenue to make a difference. It can be locally or abroad, any country or cause, a small contribution can change lives! To get involved with Light Gives Heat, check out our Spread Campaign or fund raise for the film.
My biggest thank you is to LGH for a great summer and opportunity to get involved. As well as teaching me the heart behind a really well-run organization. I appreciate the trust, generosity, and pure love you all have shown me. <3 Seana

From Amanda:
Hey guys! This summer was such a great experience. I had no idea going into it that my heart would change so much for the better. I went into it wondering how I could bless other people, not even thinking that I would come out the blessed one. To all the LGH staff, my team members, all the host homes, and all of our new friends: THANK YOU and continue to believe and pursue hope! LOVE IS WINNING!

From Brady:
Hey everyone, thank you all for tuning in these past five or six weeks to read about our adventures. It's been a really fun ride, and I've been super blessed to have met the people that I did on this trip. Thanks to everyone that stopped by the booth and talked with us- you guys made our days fly by. Also, fellow interns: you rock. I've come away with far too many inside jokes. And to the other vendors that we met, if you're reading this- thanks for all the laughs! Thanks to the awesome staff at the LGH office in Colorado, you guys worked so hard to get us where we needed to go, and we are so grateful! Also, thanks to the Hansow family, to Dave, Morgan and the kids for being so welcoming, loving and hospitable. Sleeping on your couch is like sleeping on clouds. I am so appreciative of the hard work that the Suubi women and the Epoh tailors in Uganda are doing, and I am humbled to be able to work for an organization that loves people, both in Uganda and in America. Awesome! And to my family, I'll see you so soon. And we will eat mashed potatoes together. Mmmmm... Love ya!

Well, that wraps it up for us. If volunteering for LGH is something that you would like to do, give the office a call or shoot them an email. And always, always remember- love is winning.

Goodbye and love always,
The Summer Interns
