Hayley Williams of Paramore

Recently we've heard, from several different sources of media, that certain artists are choosing to live a drug-free life style. We wanted to highlight a couple of artists that are making it known that they are choosing a life of hope; hope for a clear and dynamic future.

Hayley Williams of Paramore spoke about her chosen lifestyle in an interview with Toby Morse's One Life, One Chance. One Life, One Chance’s mission is to engage and inspire elementary, middle and high school students to make healthy choices and live a Drug Free life. Through public speaking engagements Toby Morse informs students how possible it is to maintain a Positive Mental Attitude (PMA), break stereotypes be a leader and maintain self-respect. Johny Cupcakes is a clothing company that states on their website, "Customers like and appreciate the story and work ethic behind my brand. I started this as a joke from the trunk of my beat up '89 Toyota Camry. A college drop out with a drug and alcohol-free lifestyle, I never wasted my time going out and partying but instead focused only on brainstorming and sketching up my wacky ideas. I turned down investors and took countless risks like keeping my shirts out of chain stores."

Spend less time partying and more time creating. Partying seems cool and all, but time slips by before you know it. Managing your time and money is essential. I’ve heard people complain about their living situation, vehicle, the fact that they haven’t traveled to many places, that their business isn’t taking off, etc.. Some of those same people are drinking nearly half of their paychecks away every single weekend, having nothing to show for. If you plan on changing your living situation, getting a new vehicle, starting your own business, buying that neat camera, traveling to some new places, and turning over a new leaf in life – maybe it’s time to prioritize?

I was fortunate enough to realize at such a young age that partying wasn’t for me. By opting out, not only did I save heaps of money, but I saved a tremendous amount of time. Time is something you can’t buy back, and life is too short to take that for granted. I don’t look down on anyone who parties, it’s just not for me. I’d much rather be creating than drinking away time, money, and lost memories. To each their own though. However, if it wasn’t for prioritizing and living a drug/alcohol-free lifestyle, my brand would not be where it is today.
