This month, Suubi has just launched a brand new Flavour to compliment Earth Day. As part of the 2011 Suubi Uganda Awareness Tour, this particular necklace represents Energy. Three electrical wires wrap and twist around each other and SUUBI beads to create a uniquely shaped necklace that can easily be twisted and restyled. Created using earth-toned colors, WIRED is the perfect necklace for spreading HOPE during this earth-conscious month!

Because most Ugandans don’t have access to electricity in their homes, they use charcoal for cooking. Charcoal is dirty, hazardous to the health, and leads to deforestation. Most Ugandans do not boil their drinking water because fuels like charcoal and wood are very expensive and the process is time consuming. Instead, they use their fuel for cooking. This results in recurring illnesses from waterborne diseases like giardia, cholera, dysentery, and typhoid.

In December 2010, LGH was awarded a grant by the ERM Foundation of North America to focus on alternative methods of cooking and purifying water. We have teamed up with Solar Cookers International’s office in Kenya to implement a project that is introducing fuel efficient charcoal stoves and solar cookers to the 120 Producers we currently work with in Uganda. These cost-effective and fuel-efficient methods will reduce health risks and offer an alternative method to purifying water.

We've mixed Awareness with Fashion, so this month check out how to style your necklace as Wired is featured on Suubi's Looks we Love. This is a new feature, along with many others, on our brand new Suubi Site. Click on the link below to explore the newness of Suubi.
