A new Workspace for the Epoh Tailors

Epoh Tailors and Light Gives Heat

We’ve had a change of location recently with our Epoh Tailors' workspace. They used to work at the Aaswad Guest House. In order to get there, you would have had to take a 500 Shilling (roughly 25 cents) boda ride from the LGH house. Every morning the routine was to saddle up with travel coffee mugs and head over to the Epoh workshop. In February, our landlord raised the rent, so after hours of long debate, we decided to move the tailors to the LGH house. On the last day of March we packed everything up and shifted it all to the two back rooms of the house. Surprisingly, all six sewing machines, shelves, scraps and supplies fit in the two rooms plus the kitchen. The giant cutting table now sits in the garage.

Each morning at 8 am sharp the tailors open the gate, as everyone in the house scrambles in their PJ’s to open the garage door and act as awake and alert as possible. The office is now the kitchen table and if you were to look to your left, you’d see the tailors sitting on mats ripping scraps and braiding bracelets. You’d see paper sorted or patterns laid for cutting, you need not travel farther than that to get the job done!
